The Full Story

Back in 1994, an interest in Computers sparked off my career when I achieved my first qualifications, an IT diploma at Burnley College, back when most computers were command line driven; plug and play wasn’t an option and the GUI had just started to make an appearance.  Over time computers have got more easy to use, repair and administer but having that experience working with these early computers installing components and peripherals the hard way which, in my opinion, gave me a great foundation into understanding how things really worked.

I have worked in the IT Business Systems sector in many roles over the years and I have also gained recognised qualifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) including Voice over IP (CCNAV)

Working for SMEs with a focus on Telecommunications, Installing Phone systems and building Networks was my main role until redundancy gave me the opportunity to setup my own Business IT Support Company in 2010.

BPC Support was mainly an IT consultancy service for small businesses and providing aftercare support.  I would advise small businesses how to upgrade their IT infrastructure from simple hub networks to a more professional Network and Server business environments.  At the same time I also provided PC, Laptop and Network support to the business and consumer market. 

The core business started to naturally swing towards the consumer market after having children when my commitment towards business support also shifted to cater for childcare and the school run!  It was time for a re-think….  Everybody has a PC, Laptop, mobile phone or a tablet (or all of the above) so my focus was to concentrate on training for this market and therefore I rebranded to Tech Direct.

My partner Dawn Chapman is Principal at DC Dance and Performing Arts in Todmorden and our building on Victoria Road was the perfect place to setup a Repair Workshop for Tech Direct creating a base for customers to walk in.

I attended the UK’s leading professional mobile phone and tablet repair training school led by instructors who have, in their own careers, worked internationally for Apple, Samsung and Huawei and I also became a member of a Tech Support network of Phone Repair Specialists.

 

Anybody can watch a YouTube “how to” video then self claim to be an expert.  Indeed there are repair shops out there with no technical training at all.  You can be sure that I have had extensive training throughout my career giving you the confidence in my pedigree as a competent IT Tech Professional.

 

With these credentials and extensive experience together with my comprehensive knowledge of all things Tech you can be sure that without a doubt, you made the best choice of all the Tech repair workshops in the area and your devices are in safe hands.
